I always feel ignorant when I discover music that I should have known about
for years. Craig Taborn is a jazz pianist who rated a long piece in the New
York Times last week (link below) and it turns out he is a longtime
synthesizer lover, and he made an album 11 years ago (!) called "Junk
Magic" which is nothing if not hyper-intelligent dance music.
