I've been wondering the source of the break myself for years and just
found the answer today... thanx to Google.
The Break comes from Melvin Bliss's "Synthetic Substiution"
http://www.turntablelab.com/real2/funkinthetrunk/syntheticsub.ram
http://sandbox.pair.com/sound/ao9501_substitution.ram
which can be found on Ultimate Breaks And Beats Vol 5. as "Substitution"
and a 12" on Alpha Omega Recordings
http://www.turntablelab.com/funkinthetrunk/fitt6.html
http://www.sandboxautomatic.com/testbreak.html
were 2 sites Google found. I'll plug Turntablelab 'cause I ordered from
them a few weeks ago and are based in Brooklyn... wish I knew about this
12" back then!
BTW, "Ego Trippin'" is an UltraMagnetic MCs song. Info can be found here:
http://www.sandboxautomatic.com/massive/ultra/ultra.html
I bought a Japanese 12" reissue of it a few years ago... have no idea on
how available it is now.
Enjoy
Howard
