I know exactly what you mean. I personally rotate my entire musical collection every year, favoring especially those releases composed within the last 10 minutes (thank God for mp3.com!). I like to stay current. Music is like bread... it goes stale and crusty after a week or so. That's why I never understand how people can go on and on about Coltrane and all those jazz musicians in the 60's, because by this time their music has become, in a manner of speaking, so rock-hard and moldy that you'd, like, break a tooth and get some sort of horrible disease just trying to dig in for an innocent and supposedly nourishing bite. And don't even get me started on blues or classical. So come on, let me tell you a few things, just there's this one thing I want to say. Please I only want to tell you.... Aw, come on.
