well, I never really got too into autechre until recently. I've got 4 of their cds now, and I like ep7 and lp5 more than tri repeate and incalculab. And I listened to the sound samples of confield at the warp records site and thought it seemed way more accessible than ep7, so i'm definitely going to pick it up. What i like about recent AE is the way ep7 is so ridiculously demanding. many of the songs involve a lot of concentration to understand what's going on, at least for me. there are 4 or 5 tracks that i just flat out like every time i hear them, and then there are other tracks that occasionally hit me as brilliant and othertimes just leave me a bit confused. And as for Aphex, re: shotty-ness, SAW 2, RDJ, and Windowlicker are my fav aphex records. SAW 2 is what got me into idm/ambient back in my freshman year of college when i was otherwise just into grindcore and hardcore punk. Since then i've picked up everything i can get by aphex (still need donkey rhubarb damnit), and the only record that didn't impress me that much was SAW 1. I couldn't see what was ambient about a record FULL of beats. I'll give it another listen soon though. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo!
