Oh please.
While I truly appreciate any artist who comes and and does his or her
thing live, and really I do, live electronic music is boring as hell.
The only thing that actually indulges me is to see the group's live rig
and see how they set up their performance as 'live.' But that's sort of
the same feedback as reading a magazine article that asks gear type
questions.
If someone could perform a live show without any sequencers may it would
be different, but it's not. When dealing in the realm of texture based
non-dance music then only exciting part of the performance is seeing the
producer's reaction to their own live manipulation of sound. But that's
not the music, that's the creative process.
Closer to the music? Oh right, like it's gonna sound better on a PA
designed for volume and projection than it will sound on my studio
monitors or even bookshelf monitors.
