FSA = David Pierce only for one release (and that was the versus Telefunken thing), FSA started as Jon, Dave and someone called Claire (i think). What FSA has in common with third eye foundation at the moment is the band AMP who on "Astralmoonbeamprojections", and "Stenorette" (both Kranky) feature the first 3 FSA members, Paul Gulati (a la Soundsmith, who was a member of FSA for a bit, and now plays live with Movietone and Hood, i *think*), various members of Hood and Movietone. Alongside the two core members of AMP. This Bristol tradition (except Hood, from Leeds) dates back to a band called Linda's Strange Vacation (the band founded the label of the same name) who featured Matt Elliot, Dave Pierce, both AMPs, a few Hoods, Empresses, Halkyns, Soundsmiths, Movietones!!!!!!!!!!!!! (this is true as far as I know - i infer the band was of arkestra-like proportions in terms of size) - interested in that Ghost/Semtex like stuff?? the two AMP albums, the first A.M.P. Studio album ("Syzygy" on Earworm, though mebbee reissue still available on Ochre alongside the second LP "Alien Employment Registration Office" (something like that) - come on keep up), the Soundsmith album would, i imagine, all appeal: - whilst the Movietone album "Day and Night" and "Rustic Houses, Forlorn Valleys" by Hood are quite a bit away from idm stuff: the former is quite unlike anything i've heard (except maybe a reverb-laiden Arvo Part! with ocassional krauty drumming) whilst the latter is sort of ambient/drone/"indie" (in the way the JAMC, Dead C and MBV are indie). I recommend them all. okaye - sorry for length - skt "donuts? i told you, i don't like ethnic foods!" - charles montgomery burns --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
