shit, i'd be bitter *without* kid606's music to beat up on.
but, yes, the fact that i dislike his music is one reason i posted my
rant. i'm sure he's a nice guy in person. it's not a personal attack,
despite the claims otherwise, if that makes you feel any better about
it.
i have no problems giving or receiving criticism. if i made music,
and i was serious about it, i would expect the type of criticism that
i give. (and i am getting it, too, don't worry about it)

now join your Authentic Jazz Appreciation club, or does my enjoyment
of a self-admittedely lighthearted "hot" jazz band like snz (in
addition to hundreds of other musicians and groups that i don't list
on my web site) disqualify me?
after today i've come to realize that the biggest problem on this
list is not elitism, but really people's unquestioning obedience to
the latest trends. you folks can't even admit to enjoying music from
a couple of years ago, for fear that you get dumbasses making
comments like the one above. why should i apologize for listening to
snz? what a stupid thing to say...
you don't have to agree or disagree or even pay attention. just ask
yourself what you'll be listening to in five years, and wonder where
the money went.
some of you folks respect -- no, worship, really -- some musicians so
much, you're not paying any attention to the music.
gosh, it's almost getting as bad as organized religion.
