Hi, all. I'd written and was going to post a really long thing where I was thinking about why people might say that IDM isn't as "fun" as other genres and what not, but I figure that's not really necessary. Us IDM geeks are generally shy, and make music meant for recording. So if you put someone who's used to just controlling everything in their bedroom studio onstage it'll stress them out. Now that that's out of the way, I've got a couple of questions - how come I almost never see any "I'm in such-and-such town and looking to find other people to make IDM with?" postings? Autechre discussions are good and all, but it seems like this list could be used to create more of a personable "scene" if that's what some people want to do. I live in Riverside in Southern California, and I'd like to get together with other folks to make some good electronic music, but this list doesn't seem too geared towards mentioning such things - why is that? Is it because we're all spread so far out, or are we all just too shy? Do people talk about these sorts of things on the IDM making list? Just wondering, Ryan p.s. One more question - does anyone else think that an IDM-playing version of the Aquabats would just be rad? People goofing off and enjoying themselves onstage, but making good music at the same time? --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
