this was talked about briefly a while ago, but i don't mind repeating.
essentially, there's nothing for the laptop. there are pcmcia cards with
high quality ins/outs, and midi stuff, but nothing with a "breakout box",
which is what you're looking for. all that stuff is reserved for non-laptops.
what might work for you is getting a high quality pcmcia soundcard and a
mixer. plus most operating systems don't handle multiple inputs ideally
anyways.
i believe someone was talking about a multi-in pc card thing, but it was
either expensive, not very good, or only had like 2 or 3 inputs. they
don't really make that stuff with laptops in mind.
