after keeping my eye out for this release for a couple of weeks, i happened
on upon it in the "hardcore" section of Mondo Kim's in NYC this weekend. ;]
i've only listened to it once, so it might need to grow on me a little, but
i'd say it's kinda hit and miss. the square/hexagon platter is my favorite
of the three. some of the other tracks seemed kinda unfinished.

i've only heard one Bola release, which i picked up from some MP3 server -
and i'll gladly purchase as soon as i figure out which release it is and
find a copy :) - and the Beaumont Hannant remix on Ae's Basscadet EP. the
"Shapes" tracks don't particularly strike me as being all that similar to
either of those. what interests me most, however, is that most ppl just
assume this is someone already well known in the IDM world, and not someone
new. until i picked it up, i figured there was some reason to assume it was
Bola or some other "name" in the genre, but based on my impression that the
tracks sound unfinished, i wouldn't be that surprised if it was someone new.
on the other hand, i might just need to hear more material by the artists
that some have been guessing this might be. *shrug*
btw.. i had someone at Throb tell me that there had been some sort of
announcement of who was behind the "Shapes" material. at least that was
their explanation for not having a copy in stock. i guess this isn't true
though, eh?
