My first record was Flash Gordon by Queen, the 7" in 1980 (?). Rather groovy B-side from the "comedy" American football scene. First IDM depends on whether we're allowing it to exist as a category again this week. There were numerous Shut Up & Dance-style things I bought 1990-91 (and other _hardcore devastating floorburners_), but I suppose the first proper contender that I can remember was the Orb album - "classical quality vinyl pressing" it said on the sticker. Alternatively you could say it was the Komakino 7" which came with an Italian book on Joy Division, 1988/89. adam p.s. Schematic 005 is quite nice, in a Autechre type of way. A description increasingly necessary these days.
