just a quick message to the masses
NovaMute's first Luke Slater album is due out in October. it's a fantastic
album, just what you'd expect from Luke Slater - always and still one of the
best.
But it is not NovaMute's album, and they deserve to see absolutely no profit
from it. without getting into too much detail or being too political, you should
be aware that NovaMute stole Slater away from GPR without GPR's consent - and
after Wayne (Mr. GPR) had already paid Slater a ?12,000 advance for the album!
Slater is still under contract to GPR and, technically, has no right to be
recording for NovaMute. the whole situation is currently in the hands of Wayne's
lawyers, and hopefully we'll see justice. GPR has remained so defiantly and
resolutely independent - to let Mute walk all over them is unconscionable!
i have two advance copies of the _Freek Funk_ CD - and i've literally broken
both in half after learning this. i refuse to write about or review this album.
i BESEECH you to consider everything GPR has done for us (The Black Dog is
merely the beginning!) and refuse _Freek Funk_ a single word of press (you other
writers out there) or a cent of your money.
