In a message dated 97-09-03 05:48:14 EDT, you write: << > De La Soul - 3 Feet High and Rising This record is so dated it's pathetic. It was great at the time but I think it only gets onto lists like these out of sheer reputation at this point. The skits (that seem to take up about half the record) are embarrassing, and most of the sampling is really forced. It's the sort of record that lots of people own, but only listen to once a year, if that. >> Whatever.... I Listened to this album for the first time in a while a couple a days of ago. This album is CLASSIC. It stands the test of time and will be remembered along with 'de la soul is dead' as huge building blocks in the foundation of hip hop and as influence to countless amounts of people(luke vibert seems to come in mind). The sampling seems pretty good to me. They do use a lot of familiar samples but its not like puff daddy or anything(good use of collage werk to my ears for 89). im out
