Try the Fostex D5 DAT modelled on the DA-20. Nice options, with more programming and Balanced XLR outputs which is great if you take it live. It will plug straight into a stage box (multicore) and have no noise because of the balanced outs. It has a similar price range and is white (bleh!) Portables are harder live but work alright in the studio. They do have lower dynamic range. James Clark Dharma Buffer - music for unity. %)
