I got a CD today by a band called Jaguar. The name of
the release is "Out of the Light" on Wildcat Records(?).
The sound is very cool. Basically its a traditional
jazz quartet doing 8 tracks of improv jazz over jungle
rhythms.
At first listen the two elements seem to be in contrast
to each other. But, after the initial shock, the rhythms
and melodies intertwine and interact together beautifully.
Kind of a Gregory Fleckner Quintet meets Photek.
