Greetings intelligentsia. Yes, Mark Van Hoen recorded the first CD with me and Tara, but production was a mutual thing. Sure, you're going to hear his influence on the music, but the consistency is in fact due to the use of his studio for this and his solo recordings. We talked about this at the time and new that a greater separation was required since any specialised set-up will lend a recognisable signature to recordings made with it. However, the Locust project took off for Mark and he's had to dedicate his time to this so it has not been a problem. Me and Tara parted company with the Orb shortly after the release of "Mettle" and have since been building our own studio and setting up a label, TEMPLATE. As well as the "Sauce"/"Gruff" single we also have a remix on As One's "Reflections on Reflections" album, Kirk Degiorgio's project for New Electronica featuring remixes from Carl Craig, Scanner, etc. In an earlier life we remixed Seefeel's "Plainsong" on the Pure,Impure EP under the name Sine Bubble. This EP also contained mixes by Aphex Twin, and I think most people thought our mix was his ! I believe this EP was called "Polyfusia" in the States. Looking forward, an EP is due out soon on Kirk's A.R.T. label, and we have many more offers for work. An album will be released later this year, accompanied by a new live show. Recently we have been taking a fresh approach to both the art and the science of creation. There will be no sequel to "Mettle" because that was a one-off experience for all of us, and the whole process (impulsive programming over an intense recording period) could never be duplicated. Besides, "Mettle" was recorded about three years ago and there are new movements in music to be distilled and interpretted. Mark is doing well and I see him regularly. Try to catch his live set if possible which features synchronised video footage - excellent. There was never an official 'split'. Whilst we are both busy on separate projects at the moment, I would say that there is a better than average chance that we will work together in some form or other in the future. Signing off.....
