Sorry this is a bit of a late entry but I only checked my e mail for the 1st time in a week just now... I was way too young to be into electro when it was around in the early eighties but now I'm pretty much into it. I think its due to the fact that I was into rap, then got into techno/ambient/idm, and subsequently discovered electro as a fusion between the two. Electro benefits from rap's populist tendencies and attitude, and also from techno's futurism and (lets face it) interesting squelchy noises... yeah, so it sometimes sounds cheesy but thats to be expected considering how old it is! If the current crop of electro revivalists get it right you'll be hearing some phenomenal records, otherwise they're just re-treading the same old ground. Oh, and another thing I heard recently which blew me away was "Acid Over" by Tyree which is an old school house track. The vocodered vocals, rap and 303 line are so simple its just amazing! What else did Tyree ever do and what did it all sound like? And if you don't know anything about Tyree I suggest you get hold of this track cos its rockin...! Brendan Nelson Kinetic Illusion
