Qwerty comes from Croatia and has recently moved to live in London.
Since the late 90s he has released several albums of experimental
electronic music as both qwerty and Spleen on Phthalo, Piehead and
Kitchen Sink labels. The Concrete Acid EP is his first vinyl release and
features 4 concrete-solid electro acid-influenced tracks which are both
dancefloor direct and jittery percussive. Stylistically the EP is a
homage to labels like Metroplex which favoured the classic 2 tracks plus
versions approach. "Concrete Acid" lives up to it’s title, and is a
combination of hard hitting drum machine grooves and wonky 303 lines
executed with twisted precision. The 303 mix features some melodic
assistance from Ed DMX, and fans of his and the work of Rephlex will not
be disappointed. "Robot Movements" has all the driven 808 beats, acidic
blips and monotone vocals to make you move like a robot. A dub is
included also. This is the fourth release for Rottenrow Records, and
sonically fits in perfectly with the label's style that has formed with
the first three releases by Glasgow's Dirty Hospital. Next on the
release schedule is a split EP by Scotland's Marcus Rafferty and
Shuttlecart, and another EP from Human Shield Records Tommy Walker III.
