dj funk #1 _street traxx II_ (Dance Mania DM070) 1. i'm so high 2. pass it around (part II) 3. work that body 4. funk me right!!! 5. acid houz 6. -reactivate it- 7. dj #1 (west side mega mix) 8. follow (getto house mix) alas, i find myself anticipating tracks from this man hardcore his style is straight up chicago acid house that is moved out and hung up tres FUNK (funky four fours) usually this kid comes up clean with wickid stripped down kicking acid house (they call it minimalism, you know)but with the whole world going minimal, it's rephreshing to hear FUNK get a little freeke phor shure the stripped down sound is still there, but the magic this time comes from the soaring supersonic samples, big budget wheelups, and mindbendingbackspins. lay all that out on the top of some #1 punchpackingperkolating beats and we are headlong into a few noteworthy corkers dj #1 (west side mega mix) is simply massive. FUNK, leapfrogs around through a survey of classic freestyle sounds and grooves punctuated with the aforementioned wheelups. hyperdiaperdope i have seen this track stir up the floor so hyper i thought someone was going to get hurt* *work that body* and *acid house* are the only two here that harken back to the stripped down sound of trax 1 (which is fat) *body* is a loopy1 twisted number (most of this material is expressly for the dancefloor) that hits harder than a linebacker on sunday and leaves you just as dazed on monday *-reactivate it-* gets you back on your feet for tuesday night. you know that vicious sound? FUNK is down with it. no joke, this is goodies. hard hitting kick drums and free-for-all ware- house sounds. crank it up mid track when the damn thing starts spinning backward. experiMENTAL! what the hell are they smoking in chicago? BASS! reading on the tp-o-meter: strong (vocal sample disclaimer: in effect) highfives and lowend, Teep ***friends, check out my new 'dress,*** ___________________________aran@mit.edu

Alright, recently I perchased DJ Funk #1, Clubtracks on vinyl, and I must say that it's the worst record on the face of the planet. Very minimalistic when it comes to what's happening within the music, and very repedative. I would definitely tell everyone subscribed to this list to not even look at this record if it crosses your path. But, then I look at Terry Mullan's play list off of his new tape, and I see and hear a song, produced by DJ Funk, that is exactly what I'm looking for. Great, great acid house that just gets me moving every time I hear it. Well produced, etc, etc.. And, then I listen to Hyperactive's dub tape, and he plays a track produced by DJ Funk that has the energy, and movement within a piece that get's me movin'. So, to get to the point of this message, does anyone know of any other releases that DJ Funk might have? I'm willing to bet that I just ended up, through my luck, to find the worst one he ever produced. Thanks in advance..
