This is actually the only Nitzer Ebb remaining in my collection. The CD version has a radio edit of "Shame" by Flood, if I remember correct. Orbit seems to be very good at making worthwhile tracks out of cack - his Shamen "Hyperreal" remix is worlds better than the original, and I have a CD5 of "Music Lover" by S'Express (yes, the old Sly and the Family Stone song) that has, along with tedious Shep Pettibone remixes, and a...well, interesting mix by Philip Glass, a great reworking by Mr Orbit. So what's your favorite track that's absolute crap to begin with, but has a great remix? Re: Kraftwerk clones... (and William Orbit...)
There's a swedish group called "The Mobile Homes" whos upcoming (third I think) album is being produced by Karl Bartos. That's what the rumour says, but I have other reasons as well to belive that it's true. It's hard to say what it'll actually sound like... Their previous album was produced by Julian Beeston of Nitzer Ebb, and it had a couple of strong NE-influences... In the early days, "The Mobile Homes" used to play Kraftwerk-covers in the subways of Stockholm, and I think they called themselves "Tandwerk", which, if one corrects the intended spelling mistakes, translates to toothache. Talking about Nitzer Ebb... William Orbit did some remixes for them a couple of years ago. The 12" is called "Shame - the orbit remixes" and features some of the best NE-remixes available, "Shame", "Captivate" and "Backlash". Not exactly ambient, but really intense. ----------------------------------------------------- - Johan Burman, eldjbu@tt.luth.se - - woom@ludd.luth.se - - - - woom uses akai equipment... - -----------------------------------------------------
