I got an On promo cd single from sire today: 1. on 2. 73-yips 3. xepha 4. on (reload mix) I have the single on vinyl and have been listening to "on" at 33 for awhile now, which, after listening to the cd, appears to be the wrong speed since it sounds like it's being played at 45! I know this has happened to other people with Aphex's stuff but On just sounds silly at this speed. The bass is soooo much deeper at 33 and the piano line sounds "right". Whatever, I guess I just won't play it at the "correct" speed... Andy

I agree. On sounds really nice and ambient at 33rpm, though the vinyl does actually say 45rpm on it. Cosmic

And that's the right attitude. All this talk about what speed tracks are meant to be played at... surely it comes down to what speed *you* like to hear it at. I've got plenty of tracks that sound better at 33 instead of 45, when the label says 45. "At the end of the day, Des" it all comes down to personal preferences.
