Heyya Heyya, All! I have 2 questions. The first one is for Speedy J lovers, and the second is for Acid Jazz fans. #1. I *THINK* I can get the Speedy J "Ginger" album, BUT the store is asking $28 bucks for the CD import. Is it worth it. I hear it's hard to find... Is that true??? #2. Everybody keeps raving (nice word, huh?) about Acid Jazz music. Folks will say stuff like, I can't believe you don't like acid jazz since you're into techno. I guess I must have heard BAD acid jazz. So, to make a long question short, can anyone recomend some EXCELLENT acid jazz comps for a or singles for a newcomer???? I've noticed that sonic/instinct has a few... i don't think it's worth that much... very few things are. and as it's part of the Warp "artificial intelligence" series, it should be coming out as a domestic US disc some time in the future. unless Wax Trax wants to end at Fuse, for some reason...

best one i can think of is "house of acid jazz" on astralwerks. i also like instinct's "best of acid jazz 1" - make sure you get the version with "control yourself cousin" on it. I don't know when/if WaxTrax/TVT is going to get around to releasing _Ginger_, but it is available _now_ from +8 Records. I got my copy for about $13 a few months ago from RecordTime in Roseville, MI. RecordTime carries just about all +8 material (a few +8 musicians moonlight there, even). They do phone/mail orders. Call them at (313) 775-1550. | Dave Walker, Detroit Art Services (DAS) | | "I don't read, I just guess" | | marmoset@msen.com -Happy Mondays, "Wrote For Luck" |
