AFTERGLOW was conceived as a chance to wind down after a long weekend by listening to some chill music and having a few drinks with friends. The idea is to allow some of SF's talented and multi-faceted dance music DJ's an opportunity to dig deeper into their collections and play music they wouldn't be able to in a club setting. Anything's game, from ambient to dub techno, trip-hop, idm, atmospheric drum n bass, downtempo, future jazz, deep house and beyond. _______________________________________________________________ Our second event takes place this Sunday, February 15th and features the relaxing and heady musical stylings of Ambient Mafia members: SHANE (FnF, Cloud Factory, Ambient Mafia) and HARKEN (Urban Wasteland, FnF, Ambient Mafia) plus residents: Congruence, Mike Perry, & Greg Bird Afterglow website: (check out the flyer here) http://www.afterglowsf.com Afterglow on MySpace: (add us!) http://www.myspace.com/afterglowsf ________________________________________________________________ Located @ the all new: -----[ NICKIE'S ]----- 466 Haight Street, SF 10pm - 1am / FREE full bar / kitchen open til 1am http://www.nickies.com _______________________________________________________________ More about this month's guests: Shane (FnF, Cloud Factory, Ambient Mafia) After NASA brought Shane to the Bay Area in 1997, he eventually decided to go to a warehouse party to see what the hell everyone was raving about. Three months later he'd bought turntables, a ton of vinyl, and soon became a core member of several Bay Area collectives including Epiphany, Viberation and Friends and Family. An innaugural member of the Ambient Mafia, Shane looks forward many things, such as blowing minds -- one banana at a time. He also likes mimosas, walks in the park, robotic death, driving fast and bacon. Harken (Urban Wasteland, FnF, Ambient Mafia) Harken started spinning records in 1997 upon hearing LTJ Bukem's seminal Logical Progression. After several underground appearances with the likes of Epiphany, Plate Tectonics, and High Jinx, he was approached by Redstickman, and asked to be a founding member of the Ambient Mafia. Little did he know that the key word there was "member". ______________________________________________________________ It's gonna be a big weekend, and I'm sure by Sunday we'll be ready to trade in the dancing shoes for some good conversation, a pint of beer and a big ol' plate of mac n' cheese. Let's get mellow. :) ----> Greg Bird, Mike Perry, and Matt Wilder --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
