http://www.thecommonwoods.com/nowhere/mp3/07sirius/SadMusicForHappyHumans-The_Sun_is_Gone.mp3 long mellow track with moments of urgency. bass line is a sampled conch (yes I played it). sampled vox that I recorded of my wife's korean mother singing http://www.thecommonwoods.com/nowhere/mp3/07sirius/SadMusicForHappyHumans-A_New_Star.mp3 more upbeat, vox fun, catchy, still ambient ish http://www.thecommonwoods.com/nowhere/mp3/06time/03SadMusicForHappyHumans-Sometimes_A_Great_Notion.mp3 Structured like a song, harp samples (I played), dulcimer samples (I played), vox samples of wife's mom with mad manipulation http://www.thecommonwoods.com/nowhere/mp3/06time/01SadMusicForHappyHumans-Tears_in_Time.mp3 Very organic. I sampled a Yan Quin (I played), used a synth with some grain delay, and sampled vox from my wife's mom (she's a great singer in the traditional Korean way of singing... I love to sample her!) http://www.thecommonwoods.com/nowhere/mp3/06time/07SadMusicForHappyHumans-A_Wrinkle_in_Time.mp3 Almost 3 songs in one... slow moving to a massively frenetic world beat dance fiesta in the third part. Vox samples from some villages in Darfur a friend of mine sampled. http://www.thecommonwoods.com/nowhere/mp3/Sound/SadMusicForHappyHumans-Fly_Me_to_the_Moon.mp3 Vox samples of that old "fly me to the moon" song (think great depression era folk) and NASA, more traditional type of song structure and notation; still ambient ish. http://www.thecommonwoods.com/nowhere/mp3/Anne/Sad%20Music%20for%20Happy%20Humans%20-%20Richard%20D%20James.mp3 Listen to the title. Pure mindfuck hazery. This is from before I went digital, and was done with cheap toys, a roland mc09, some pedals and delay racks/pedals. OVERDRIVE GEAR THAT ISN"T MEANT TO BE OVERDRIVEN!!! So there's an audiophile party of experimentation, mindfuckery, and youbetcha, BEATS... for you! I'd love to hear what floats your boat and what don't (from anyone!). Not that I'll be changing what I make because of it. ;) Nevyn Nowhere http://www.happyhumans.org Sad Music for Happy Humans On Tue, Oct 21, 2008 at 3:10 PM, wownflutter <wownflutter@yahoo.com> wrote:

Hey, I'm yer pal Gel-Sol, and I live in Seattle, Washington! Some of you might remember me from such obscure cult ambient labels as em:t records. I released a Gel-Sol album, and was a member of 302 Acid on em:t. Now I am on Upstairs Recordings out of Vancouver and Psychonavigation Records in Dublin. I just call the music psychedelic, because it doesn't rest within one genre. Fans of the Orb and FSOL might dig my stuff! I also have another project called Kids For Tomorrow, and have a free ep available from Part2 Records in the UK: http://www.part2records.com/the_deployer_ep/ Here are some more links, with free live sets and songs: http://www.gel-sol.com http://www.myspace.com/gelsol http://www.virb.com/gelsol http://www.last.fm/user/gel-sol http://www.last.fm/music/Gel-Sol And please visit my labels sites: http://www.upstairsrecordings.com/ http://www.psychonavigation.com/ The new Kids For Tomorrow album should be finished sometime at the beginning of the year, and look out for a massive double-concept album from Gel-Sol next year! Thanks for your time!
