if you were willing to waste your time attending a day long series of talks on the sorts of things most curious newcomers should be educated on, as well as a few specialty demonstrations, what sort of things would you attend hoping to learn about or participate in? the question applies to everone but i think the event will be held between boston and nyc, perhaps this summer. also volunteers needed for secret project involving demonstrating complicated and useful skills to dudes in a classroom setting. -- Please note: This e-mail was sent from a notification-only address that cannot accept incoming e-mail. well, i could talk on 1 but would like someone who was there, perhaps 2 and 3 have already been contacted and have shown an interest in speaking the real question i guess is whether or not my contagious internet disease will prevent the Truly Hip members of this list from masking their interest. is there really this little interest for a series of workshops on music production in new england? Personally, being a new newbie, I don't have anything of value to contribute to a conference. I understand why it would be someplace like NYC or Boston, but that doesn't make me any more able to make a trip like that. DC, yeah, Baltimore probably, Philly maybe. this assumption is a common problem due to jerkwad superstar types. sure you do, but even if not you can't find out till you show up! this isn't gonna be like, a class or anything serious, i assure you. On 5/29/06, Scott Gentzen <sgentzen@mac.com> wrote:

I'm in Boston. I'm game. I will attend if possible. I think you could do some "Birds of a Feather" sessions (what they're usually called at conferences) on different topics. One on the "challanges of using a laptop in a live setting" one would be cool. I'll pitch in. Also, it would be cool to get some sponsors. Get NI and Ableton and what not to pony up some free software to giveaway to registered attendees? -Clint ......................... www.synnack.com www.mono-chrome.net

mr sand you're as smart as silica's finest. talk to me about who you'd invite to your laptop panel! we should find at least like, 5 major questions that need to be answered regarding electronic music for the panel to consider. as for sponsorship, i think that if we have an adjoining laptop battle or just all out track-off we could get some stuff from laptopbattle.org provided we could fly the winner to seattle for the finals, and i could only dream of a world where the total door for the conference and battle would cover that. also i am trying to get some chairspace at a local university near my radio station but it's proving difficult w/o being an actual student. is anyone on this list in a position to assign a hall for a day or so?
