Hello all, My friends and I are planning a 1-2 week trip to all meet up half-way across the country to write and record music. Wanted to ask your advice about this. Id like to bring laptop, midi gear, one or more guitars, effects, and of course clothes and the usual stuff. At least one other guy is also going to bring that much gear too. I have a big flight case, but Im guessing that is too much luggage to bring on a plane. So, maybe a train is the better way to go. Or shipping some equipment ahead? Driving would be out of the question because it would be a two-three day drive just to get there. Anyone have any ideas, suggestions, experiences, to share? This is my first time trying this.. Thanks much Eric Roth www.secret-beach.com

www.maxlinecase.com This page (a custom road case company) has dimensions for maximum sizes for carry-on and luggage. If you can make it work by plane, I recommend it-- I flew to a few gigs last year and took a small road case as luggage. It worked brilliantly. I don't recommend the train at all. It's like a greyhound bus on rails. The last time I took Amtrak I got in 6 hours late on a 12 hour trip. Nathan On Mar 13, 2006, at 1:11 PM, EROTH001@aol.com wrote:

guitars are a big problem -- too fragile to check, too big for overheads. You could call ahead to the airlines and see if they'll let you stuff the guitar in their in-cabin closet where they hang garment bags for people. You might also consider A) shipping stuff ahead and B) borrowing or renting locally once you're there. On 3/13/06, EROTH001@aol.com <EROTH001@aol.com> wrote:
