con:HEAVY audio engine. _HEAVY_. apart from that, go for it. oh con: its not exactly a midisequencer like logic.. Yet. con: the freeze isnt made in a ableton live way -- i.e. you cant just online-freeze quickly and sensibly, like ableton live would allow you to, if you just did it your way (enabled an audiotrack to listen to whatevers playing and capture a loop). but honestly, it can work, and people do use it, and its got some serious hidden depths. i just need to upgrade to a faster laptop.now. My main pro is I have found that ableton live 5 was able to replace a lot of the functions I was using for samples between, vegas, an 808 and a emu rack sampler. Now I can use just my laptop & synth with much more flexibility and sample control for live performance. It also reduces tasks that would have taken me several hours to complete before into just a few minutes. My main con is it reduces the time I spend on my old 808 ann sampler. Lots of laptop battling cats use ableton live in terms of flexibility. I like because you can structure permutation matrixes for many alternate directions in performance. G.
