***THE BUNKER***
Plasticman (Rephlex, Terrorhythm, Rinse FM | UK)
Vex'd (Planet Mu, Subtext | UK)
Plasticman has cemented himself a place as one of the most
popular producer/DJs on the thriving grime scene which has
spouted from the old UK Garage scene. His sound actually falls
somewhere between dubstep and grime, and can be somewhat
difficult to catagorize (always a good thing). He had several
tracks on the Rephlex's "Grime" compilation, and has released an
armful of 12"s in two short years. He hosts a very popular weekly
radio show on London pirate Rinse FM.

Hailing from Brixton, London, Vex'd are two producers/DJs with a
taste for the twisted. Their current album on Planet Mu
demonstrates a unique take on contemporary electronic music,
primarily absorbing elements from the current grime and dubstep
scenes but also incorporating influences that stem from jungle,
techno, dancehall, industrial and hip hop (among others). This
resulting fusion matches the impact of a fierce jungle bassline
and the percussive freshness of hip hop as it sounded in the 80s,
with the depth of a Basic Channel or Jeff Mills techno record,
yet brim with apocalyptic charge.

from Flavorpill.net:
"As grime's top producers get pop makeovers and the mic men and women
continue to court the UK's mainstream, certain rogue artists are
conspiring with the largely instrumental, bastard brother known as
dubstep; and tonight's headliners, Plasticman and Vex'd, embody the
best of this furious fusion. As producers, their instrumentals inhabit
the bleakest, most violent recesses of the post-jungle landscape,
throttling listeners with rib-cracking sublow bass lines and spectral
effects. Stalwart IDM imprints Rephlex and Planet Mu recognized this
renegade brilliance and brought the efforts to Stateside attention,
including Plasticman on their first (dubiously titled) Grime comp and
releasing Vex'd's double-disc Degenerate. Tonight, descend into death
ragga made for the vacuum of outer space."
