i'm interested in hearing reviews as well, and general kid606 recommendations... i really liked PSILoveYou, the quieter 606 is nice, and soccergirlep is really great, but the more spaztic stuff seems to go style over substance, and that's not worth my money so much. i really really like what i've heard of Dwayne Sodahberk's "Unfortunately" album, but never see it in shops... though i also think i hates the more spazzy, Numbers style stuff. "Unfortunately" seems to really capture a great balance of mood, melody, and just damned well written songs... songs are important damnit! also, nathan michel's album "dear bicycle" is really impressive. wonderful joyous laptop manipulation of very soulful and crafty pop acoustic instruments and voice. truly impressive and fresh sounding and allmusic rightfully sweats the undies off em. anyone heard "the beast"? sounds neat. and what's up with Stars As Eyes?! i got their lp long time ago with the two cobras on the cover and it sort of sucked. i just couldn't get into it. then i limewired some newer material from them and it was really fantastic pluramon-shoegazer style fun, but i don't see any of the track names listed under their albums...?!. i really appreciate what Tigerbeat6 does and i like their progressive outlook, i just wished i enjoyed their more recent output.

Haven't listened enough to the new Kid606 yet to offer an opinion. But I have to say that when the Tigerbeat6 tour came to town a couple of weeks ago, they put on an amazing show. Kid606 and Knifehandchop played the best sets I've ever heard by them. If you have a chance to see them in your town, don't hesitate to go. Nathan Michel's newest release "The Beast" is excellent. I haven't really heard his earlier album "Dear Bicycle", so I can't compare the two. But "The Beast" is mostly acoustic, quirky, mellow, 70's-ish pop with great vocals and extremely subtle laptop manipulations. As for Stars As Eyes, that's an excellent question. They used to live in the same town as me (Austin, TX), and I sort of know them. I agree that their first record ("Freedom Rock") was a bit noodly and random. But then their next album ("Enemy of Fun") was much better... A very unique combination of rock and electronic elements. And then their songs on the "Loud New Shit" remix album were very good too. Maybe those are the ones you found on Limewire? And then they moved away from Austin and I heard they weren't playing together for awhile, because they were living in different cities. But then recently I heard they were playing together again...? So, at this point, I have no idea what's up with them. Hopefully they release some more music eventually, either individually or together, because they were doing some interesting stuff. Todd www.amoda.org

I like about half of it... There are 2 or three really dope jams, but overall the album left me kind of wanting more. Some of the quiet tunes are really endearing, but most are kind of boring for me on first listen. I suspect the album will grow on me, and that my mind set was listening for the 'Who What Kill Sound' frantic style on at least a couple of tracks, but he's kind of played the whole ragga muffin gabba style out, I suppose. I need more time with it before I can make up my mind. - xenlab On 8/9/05, StaticBeats <stupidnametaken@yahoo.com> wrote:
