I've been enjoying rather a lot: Planet Mu's Criminal LPs with all those lovely bootlegs inc. Kylie, Eminem etc etc. Does anyone know of any other Wazzed up pop music covers? I'm trying to steer clear of those glitch'o'rama tracks, would prefer something that somebody's actually spent some time re-arranging, and more beat-driven... like the "Flying Kylies- Can't Get money out of my head" and "Butler Kiev - Rewind Selecta" tracks from the aforementioned album. Hello all, I'm new. Andythetwig

Australia's own Dsico does some great mutilated/mashed-up pop songs - you can check them out at http://4trak.net/dsico/. -- Kurt If honour and wisdom and happiness are not for me, let them be for others. "Raiding the 20th Century" (recently mentioned) is a classic in this genre. Look for "Back to the Basics", "Solid Steel", and "The Milk Run" for other mixes that include more mashups. These all come from radio broadcasts and can be found on SLSK if you look for them. Also check out Original Hamster (on Tigerbeat 6) and DJ/Rupture (also on Tigerbeat) and Bit Meddler for more glitch-hop(py) mashups. I'd also recommend the Violent Turd compilation series "Shotgun Wedding" which includes a fair share of mashups.... These can be found at: www.tigerbeat6.com (Violent Turd is their sister label that they release all the music that contains 'uncleared samples')... I just got Volume 1 - 3 and can't speak highly of them enough. -xenlab Richard Barnett wrote:

People should keep in mind, though, that Dsico isn't doing the mash-up thing any more. He got bored of it, and his new album "You Fight Like A Girl" is self-described as "post-electroclash indie-alt-pop" or something like that. It's quite a good record, with real songs and everything. :) Greg :::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::: Greg Clow ::: greg@stainedproductions.com ::::::::: concert & event promotions ::: http://www.stainedproductions.com :::::: electronic music radio & reviews ::: http://www.feedbackmonitor.com ::: electronic/experimental record label ::: http://www.pieheadrecords.com ::::::::: 158 Close Ave. 2nd Floor ::: Toronto, Ontario M6K 2V5 ::: Canada --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

There's been a bunch of people asking when theses cats are gonna come down. CURTIS CHIP, PRESSBOARD and DESTRO will be in the place, fucking w/ your minds and not apologizing for it @ all. Here's a little info on the artists themselves.... CURTIS CHIP: Curtis Chip is a co-founder and mainstay at Zod, and because Curtis Chip has been playing drums since he was very young, this zod artist has a very musical way of thinking about rhythm. The dense poly-rhythms and syncopation (coupled with a gift for sound design) that he incorporates into his songs are what separates him from other artists in electronic music. Curtis Chip's involvement in experimental music started when he began playing bass in the death-metal band Exhaust Cube when he was 14. From there he quickly got interested in electronic music and the underground dance party scene, and with his brother Adam, purchased some gear and started making the music that they loved to hear. He has been involved in many projects and has dj-ed under the psudonym Df1. His finely crafted and highly original tracks range from frantic drum and bass with sweeping melodies and urgent synth lines, to dark, distorted sound-scapes, sculpted from pure sound, all with the signature syncopation he is known for. For his percussion sounds, he often samples his own drumming, and later chops it up and re-edits it into a densely woven web of rhythm. PRESSBOARD: Pressboard is a fan of modular synthesis and a connoisseur of sine waves. He has released electronic music for a variety of labels including Crouton, Zod, Antiopic, Stasisfield and Topscore. He has performed in the U.S. and Japan, and is one-half of the duo Dartanjal. DESTRO: Destro can be thought of as the zod mastermind. It is his vision that has led to the creation and inevitable evolution and mutation of zod records. He is also an impeccable dj who started off spinning experimental minded techno and acid and eventually, after working tirelessly, has created a style that blends all types of music he wishes to put onto turntables, regardless of style or genre. In this way he can be seen as a purveyor / preserver of the underground; sort of an art-historian of the electronic underground music scene. In his latest mix cd, he incorporates a keen sense of composition along with tight mixing skills to create a seamless sonic tapestry. He has also lent his skills to some production projects, most notably to the combination of him and his younger brother curtis chip to make "Like a Person" which appears on zod.01. you're all in trouble now. -- :MONDAYS @ DANNY?S: :M@D: >> programming schedule FEBRUARY.2005 - - - 28.FEBRUARY- CONSUMERS RESEARCH + DEVELOPMENT Label presents: Kneel Before Zod: A ZOD RECORDS Showcase -CURTIS CHIP (Zod Records) -PRESSBOARD (Zod Records) -DESTRO (Zod Records) -dj [RAY_ROD] (M@D resident) (Hefty Records) Zod Records http://www.zodrecords.com Consumers Label http://www.consumerslabel.net - - - MARCH.2005 - - - 07.MARCH- CONCUR MEDIA presents: -4-SQUARE (tastemaker dj collective of folks from Metro, Hi-Fi Records Life During Wartime, The Watchers) -dj [RAY_ROD] (M@D resident) (Hefty Records) Ray_Rod http://www.heftyrecords.com - - - 14.MARCH- m50 presents: MILES TILMANN BDAY SOIREE ! -MILES TILMANN -live- (Consumers Research + Develoment, Toytronic, Semisexual, Sub:marine labels) -MACHWHAT -live- -OLY -live- (from Miami / Chicago) -dj M50 (M@D resident) (WNUR-FM, WCKS-AM, Meiotic, illmeasures) Miles Tilmann http://www.webhole.com http://www.toytronic.com http://www.consumerslabel.net Oly http://www.oly170.com http://www.myspace.com/oly M50 http://m50.net - - - 21.MARCH- LAZYFM presents: LAZYFM vs FLASH GORDON (movie featured on 2 screens! w/ real-time dj/turntable reconstruction!) -dj JOSH WERNER (Antennae Intl.
