Autechre looms large over exm. Listen to "welloff" and you can hear very
Autechre-esque drumming, and layers of wonky acousmatic noise. It also
sounds as though he's jamming out modular patches and then editing and
layering stuff. Which is how Autechre works most of the time now.
Exm is slightly more straightforward harmonically, even "welloff" which is
chock-full of weirdness, seems to follow a 8 beat looped pattern that
gradually morphs. Listening to any Autechre from this century, they would
never stay in the same groove as longas exm does.
