well, I think it's beyond electro being over...I think electronica is over.
I mean, not absolutely. Electro will continue, as will a host of
other electronica styles from the last decade and a half, most of
which had their defining moments years ago.
But the years of rapid stylistic evolution in electronica had passed
and a sense of foot-tapping 'what's next?' had already set in for
awhile when there seemed to be a collective cultural shrug and the
totally amusing but not particularly visionary electro/new wave
revival was trotted out for kicks.
Well, you know, I'm still checking stuff out, and I'm not giving up.
But I'm still tapping my foot, waiting for something to restore the
sense of wonder, the sense of 'where the hell did that come from??'
which I feel like i haven't run across in the electronica sphere in
awhile.
or---can anyone point me in a good direction to discover something
really fresh?
