Anyone else think this is weird? I mean not everyone on the list hated the album. I did, but at the local music store everyone else seemed to be digging on it. - a On Tuesday, January 27, 2004, at 12:01 PM, peter chavez wrote:

Agreed. Some people said it wasn't their cuppa, but that's to be expected with any album. I also liked the bit saying that it's available from iTunes but then saying that "mp3's suck anyway," when the AAC files are lower quality than Bleep.com as well as having DRM. dur! Oh well. Who says artists don't respond to their fans :D derek -- eggytoast.com : eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

not to mention iTunes doesn't make any money because all it's profits get funneled back into the RIAA -- nice one TTA! wait does that mean TTA's stuff will be appearing on RIAARadar soon? or that they don't drink pepsi anymore? w PS can anyone recommend a good alternative to iTunes for mp3 playback under OS X? love OS X, hate iTunes! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Take a look at Audion: http://www.panic.com Cool in many ways, but no smart playlists, unless I misread the docs. -- THE DOUBTFUL PALACE Free exquisite music http://www.doubtfulpalace.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I use Whamb at work. It's a nice lightweight player, and even supports OGG natively. derek -- eggytoast.com : eggtastic.com --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I think it's a more overtly accessible album than their earlier work; I think it's getting the Industry Push. I've not heard it enough to say whether it's going to be a favorite of mine, but unlike some on this list, I don't mind commercial music, so long as it's good. I like to think of myself more as a buyer of music and concert attendee, thanks.

I really can't tell if he's making some snarky comment about people downloading the album pre-release or not. For what it's worth, I actually *did* buy the single from the iTunes store and thought it was decent. I'll reserve full judgement for the album, which I'll try to listen to in full before buying. I'd like to think I'm part of the silent minority that didn't yet voice an opinion, but hey... I really don't know where the shots at bleep are coming from, though. Sure, AAC is great for smaller downloads, but you're not going to beat bleep's 256kbit mp3s. I'd like to think the licensing permits artists to sell via both bleep and the iTMS (like I mentioned a while ago), but I could be wrong. Are there any actual reviews of the album anywhere yet? I'll try to track it down locally in the next week or so. - mike This communication is for use by the intended recipient and contains information that may be privileged, confidential or copyrighted under applicable law.
