One of the main reason for burner technology to be released was that the idea was to have a new familiar format (CD discs) to store large amounts of information (700MB as opposed to 1.5MB for floppies) for computer programs/files. The RIAA wrongly thought the music format burners would only interest 'audiophiles' never thinking that as technology became cheaper that people would actually buy computers to 'burn' music. They never asked for a bounty on computer discs, they thought people would only buy stand alone units to copy music.... Suckers! It also explains the wrong headed rationale to kill Napster instead of co-opting it. hex np/ to moauf by Tarwater
