Nusrat was extremely prolific in the studio, and I've only heard a
teensy bit of what he produced before an early death in '97, or so.
I have "Night Song", and it is absolutely breathtaking.
I think everyone should hear it, simply to know that music so beautiful
exists.
But then again, it is qawwali...
In the same vein, but a different religious tradition, is Salif Keita, a
Sufi Muslim from Mali.
Look for "The Mansa of Mali... A Retrospective"...
other recordings I've heard lack the studio talent which makes this cd
blow me away.
These came out before world music became "cool" and so they are fairly
unadulterated by Western/Big Label influences.
