i picked up SAW v. 2 on saturday, having just recently gone off on a RDJ jaunt. my opinion: it's not to my liking. and i gave it a fair listen, but ultimately, it doesn't work. what do others think of this particular album? it's interesting as an artifact in the development of the artist (everything in this e-mail is IMO) but in terms of his more recent work, it doesn't hold up. at any rate, it's going up on e-bay and hopefully i can win back some of my investment. g. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

i can understand fans of later Aphex Twin not caring for that album, but I personally love that album. It's a great album to listen to in the dark. --------------------------------- Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE video emails in Yahoo! Mail.

Fair enough - you have a right to whatever your opinion on the matter is. Maybe your 'mistake' is coming to it now, from the angle of the future looking back down in time? You are comparing it to his recent work, and of course it's different. Whether or not it 'holds up' is another question of opinion. For me, this is a very special atmospheric slice of aural ambience. My husband (who owns a recording studio and has been immersed in music from the year dot) thinks it's crap. Who's right? (Obviously nobody - it's valid to feel whatever you feel, and if it does nothing for you, then... turn to something that does). Personally I've always loved this album dearly. I even have two copies of it. Granted, you need to be in the mood for it, and it ain't dance muzak :-) I think, as far as electronic/ambient music goes, this one's a landmark. But no point hanging on to it if you don't enjoy it.
