Absolutely amazing... I must have spent a day listening and trying to decipher those vocals... Interesting that Canadian musicians would be so interested in writing lyrics about a so-called religious compound in Plano Texas. Now, the song is even more interesting to me! --- EggyToast

They're definitely Scottish. From what I understand, their name was derived from the organization "The National Film Board of Canada" ( this is their website http://www.nfb.ca/E/ , nothing particularly IDM, though). Apparently, old documentaries from the Film Board of Canada contained music that influenced BoC. There is definitely a "vintage PBS" feel to many of their tracks. or is there a vintage NFB-feel to PBS? anyway, whilst not particularly IDM these days the old animationa nd sound was stellar, as was the song for Hinterland Who's Who. The NFB of Canada have been producing award winning shorts (quick, "Bermuda or swimming ?" joke goes here) for years and years and years. I recall reading somewhere that Mike & Marcus both lived in the prairies, i think in manitoba and saskatchewan (that's in canada, folks) while they were growing up, hence the influence. but then again, Aphex makes all of his own synths, right? ;] All this and more is probably easily found through Google... -- - Jeremy Axon --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yes, I believe the story is that they both lived in Calgary, Alberta for a couple of years when they were kids, although they didn't actually meet until their families had moved back to Scotland. And also Amo Bishop Roden is "Amo Bishop Roden, the ex-wife of former Branch Davidian leader George Roden" who incidentally "...lives at the former Mount Carmel site in a small shack." http://www.dallasnews.com/specials/waco/aftermath/fightoverland94.htm -i __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Er, Waco. Plano is near Dallas, an supposedly has a lot of spoiled kids with heroin problems. Waco is halfway between Dallas and Austin, just south of where I35 W and E merge, and featured David Koresh and still may feature the mighty Ario Jafarzadeh Speedwagon. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

Yeah I think when I heard that track it sounded like "Whummmmwiibwibwubwoutabuwiwulbwaceowwinwacunwuyy" WHICH IF YOU SLOW IT DOWN sounds like "wwwwummwwwibbwwwiiooooouttttwwwinnawwwwiiiwwwwiiouuussscommmmuuniwwwyyyooouuwwwiiinnaaaaccccouuunnnnwwwwy"and backwards it sounds like yyyywwwwnnnuuuoocccaaannnnnnniiiiiwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwuuuuuuuuuoooooooooyyyyyyywwwwwwwwwwwiiiiiiiiinnuuuummmmmoooooccccccsssssssssssuuuuuuuuuooooooiiiiiiwwwwwwwwwiiiiiwwwwttttttuuooooooiiiiiiwwwwwwbbbbbbibbbbbwwwwuuuummmmwwww. I dunno, THEY MAY BE TRYING TO TELL US SOMETHING!!! Maybe they are fundamentalist born-again acid heads and are secret acid-terrorists inviting innocent youth under the influence of evil halucinogenic mind control drugs to come out to thier acid eating drug cult compound and take drugs!"Hexagon Sun"? Sounds like they were under the influence of hard narcotic LSD when they thought that one up. I think the whole Warp label is in on it too, the message of that latest Squarepusher single seems an open invitation to a free-loving drug induced sex-orgy...not to mention thier ringleader Dirty Dickk DJ Jammy Jamez newest album entitled "Drukgs" which uh should speak for itself... And all that ultra-liberal anti-war political stuff thats been popping up on the Warp website lately. Well I for one am all for it, I'm listening to the White album right now, and its been a while since somebody pulled off a good high-on-psychedeliqz political album. actually there hasnt been a good political movement combined with good drugs since the sixties. Uh or something. Or at least the White Album is good, really good... --- sp808 eating corn flakes <woolydogeater@hotmail.com> wrote:

Ditto. Until I read the "religous" version, I never realized it didn't make much sense. Still like the pretentious version better because as we all know, religion is so un-idm. Not that I have paid any attention to lyrics in idm anyway. At least not since the last aphex and not until the next aphex cd comes out and he's climbing through your bedroom window and cutting off your cock again. don't matter if they were born there or not - they're there now, which means they're connected to Scottish Rite Freemasonry, without a doubt! ===== .Adam http://www.damek.org/ __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
