i must admit this is interesting. i might be ignorant on some facts, but i know this album was first released on pete namlook’s Fax sub label being a rather limited edition. as far as his philosophy, peter’s that is, he would release the rights or whatever to the artist being mr. sharp in order for them to profit. my general understanding was pete was very fair and almost went bankrupt do to his dedication to the artist. i personally own an older reissue that i hope benefited mr. sharp. so, i would agree something shady is going on. a ironic side note, as i read the thread, i was listening to, “electro harmonix,” which is a collaboration between jonah sharp and tetsu inoue on that very same Fax label, suggesting anyone interested in Sea Biscuit should check out this one. Sent from my iPhone, hence grammatical and spelling errors are a logical assumption.

Yes, _Electro Harmonix_ is good stuff. I had a radio show for a while and called it "Morphing Cloud". That track was not terribly this-listy, but "Replay" and "Floating Sync" were close enough. Plus, you mentioned Tetsu Inoue and I wanted to share that just last week, I was at an art/event space for First Friday, and the DJ dropped "Karmic Light" from _Ambiant Otaku_. It's not too often that I get to hear Tetsu's music being played out. Thankfully, the place had a couches and I had some time to chill out. phase np: Poly-Ana

If you don’t have a copy of this already, find a used copy of the Astralwerks version on Discogs. Or just download it from SLSK. Still better than giving that Psychonavigation guy any money. It’s not even a remaster. But get it. It’s really good. And if you don’t have Emit Ecaps, get that, too. And rEmit rEcaps has an Autechre remix, ferchrissakes. Yeah I have to say after investigating this more I really would avoid buying the reissue many people have dealt with the guy running this label and i read way too many accounts of his antics last night while doing some research on the subject, the artist is never going to see a dime so unless you really want what's probably going to be a cdr of Sea Biscuit for $12.99 or whatever, just obtain it elsewhere too bad since its a amazing, really really effing great album, wow Clint Anderson Systems Engineer "Freedom -- paint me a picture!" -- Burton Cummings On Thu, Mar 15, 2018 at 10:52 PM, Ransom Schafer <ransom.schafer@gmail.com> wrote:

Thanks for the comments and suggestions on this. Been listening to Sea Biscuit in bits and pieces recently and I have to say I kind of like it over Emit Ecaps now. Sea Biscuit is more condensed and mysterious and not stretched out musically over a lot of different styles, but still sounds like classic STC. Lots to listen to. I love this sound and wonder if people are still out working in this area. It's so close to the Artificial Intelligence trax. Generally speaking it's "ambient techno" but there's a very particular vibe that tracks like "voice of the earth" hit ... it's gotta be chill without getting into "chillout" (so no mixmaster morris) and trancey without going full-on Planet Dog. My top 5 (aside from Sea Biscuit) - Higher Intelligence Agency "Colourform" (or maybe "Freefloater"! can that still count as 1?!) - Real LIfe "Journey of the Carcharadon" - under appreciated - Pete Namlook and Jonah Sharp - "Alien Community 2" - perhaps a double entry, but there was a sequence of Namlook collabs in the 94-96 time frame that fucking killed it, and this was the best. - Speedy J - "G Spot" - two tracks on AI 1, extended out into album length. 1995, holy shit. - S.E.T.I - "The Geometry of Night" - now this *isn't* the SETI Arecibo/Phoenix double album on Instinct Ambient, though that is also fucking incredible, it's the Andrew Lagowski project released on Incoming! in 1996. Samples about aliens ratio is wayyy up there. --eric

This is just wonderful. Reminds me a lot of Ambulance's The Curse of Vale do Lobo <http://planet.mu/releases/the-curse-of-vale-do-lobo/>. On Tue, Mar 27, 2018 at 9:24 PM, Eric Sorenson <eric@explosive.net> wrote:

Some of the "Scientific Dreamz of U" stuff is on that tip - contemporary producer. I would include Richard H Kirk/Sandoz on that list too. Lena Willikens played in this style on her last Beats in Space appearance https://soundcloud.com/timsweeney/lenawillikens2018 also when I saw her dj a few months ago - people went crazy for it too I dig this stuff too but Planet Dog is where I have to draw the line. Yeah yr definitely right Random - I think that its the electro side of both that connect the two styles for her. although maybe not pop - dunno if i've ever heard her play a vocal track. I've also noticed that she rarely if ever plays above 120bpm super excellent dj On Sat, Apr 7, 2018 at 3:18 PM, Ransom Schafer <ransom.schafer@gmail.com> wrote:

I didn't mean pop music explicitly. She has a way of putting a vocoder or bizarre vocal sample in a track that fits and seems like pop to me, more like a pop underworld. I don't know maybe it's the slow down beats too, gives the tunes a slightly downturned italo feel sometimes. On Mon, Apr 9, 2018 at 8:45 AM, Chris Taylor <christaylor415@gmail.com> wrote:
