Does someone know where I can find records by This Heat in NYC? Actually, vinyl or cd would be fine. I'm really looking for their most famous, DECEIT. I believe that both the s/t album and Deceit have fallen out of print, which means that you'll have to run across it secondhand. Repeat, Health & Efficiency and the excellent Peel sessions disc (Made Available) are still around and available at the usual independent retail outlets. I've heard tell that These may be repressing the titles, but nothing concrete. -rob On Tue, 14 Aug 2001, . m e . wrote:

It's a classic in any genre and cold be witnessed at the Hausmusik-festival in Septembre in Munich. Catch them if you can: their liveshows are very rare and bewildering.

Is it a marked improvement from their first album? I picked that up when it came out and was less than impressed with their poaching of the then-current indie-rock vernacular (they spoke fluent Dinosaurese to little impact). What do they currently sound like? -rob ps- if you want wholesale lifting of This Heat, look no further than Brise-Glace. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

I fully agree on Brise Glace... However: "Philip Schatz" is a treasure which could not be compared with the first album. The combination of loopy piano's, backwards tapeloops and Steve Reich alike guitarriffs were and are still very refreshing. The third album "score" is also very worthwile. I don't know how they sound now since they didn't release anything since two years now i think. All members are split up in diffrent projects (Notwist, A Million Mercies etc...)
