i kept my mouth shut... but i´m starting to hate autechre... pleeeeeeease.... there´s more to life than autechre... idm ain´t just autechre music ain´t just idm and ...... please start an autechre mailing list n/p autechre "amber" and Múm "yesterday was dramatic- today is ok" (yesterday 25 auechre mails, today ONLY 15)

I don't recall hearing anyone say "I love the new autechre because it's, of course, autechre, and I love all autechre!" I've heard plenty of "i hate it because autechre's been around for more than 5 years and anything that's been around for more than 5 years is bad!! listen to new stuff!!" I think the point is that, before posting up a first opinion about anything, let it seep in a bit so you can form a rational argument. Saying "I hate this! it's boring!!" just adds to the noise on the list. I don't know what your post is saying. So you hate autechre. Yeah? and..? I hate a couple things too. To all the people saying "there's more out there than autechre" - duh. I don't think we'd have a list if there wasn't :P There's also more to "idm" than the latest and greatest "hit artists," and autechre's put out a lot of very influential records in their, what, 7 yrs on warp? Frankly, I haven't been buying most of the new stuff that comes out because the reviews have been really poor quality here. It seems people are content with just lumping things together with "childish melodies," "noisy breaks," "sounds like autechre," or some other idm-catchphrase, instead of offering an honest *review* Most of the "critiques" of the new autechre album sound just like what non-idm people would say. not really, I mean, I like speedy j and there is very little melody, if any, in his music. I have been listening to confield on a daily basis since I have gotten it off of napster. now, granted, it might not be them, but I am most positive it is. what I am hearing is definitely a level of progression on their part, I just feel like there is something missing. I mean, there is some stuff on EP7 that I still cannot get into. As far as the melody not being present in IDM, how would you explain most of Aphex Twin, there is melody in almost every song RDJ does. I don't think it's the lack of melody that bothers me, it just seems like something is missing.
