I got this record called Don't Dolby and I can't figure out who it's by. On the side of the sleeve is the label info: Gefriem Tontrager Nr 005 Please let me know if you can identify the artist. It is an eponymous release. Re: the Cascone article for CMJ, also check out his review of Generation Ecstacy in the same issue... standard book report fare, but he quotes from my posting on the same book.... and credits it only to this list! ======================================================== MUTEK / Music, Sound and New Technologies - 2nd Edition Montreal, May 30 - June 3, 2001 ======================================================== MUTEK_NEWS #2 Planning for MUTEK's second edition continues, and a very exciting program is taking shape. All details will be released in April. The FINAL CONFIRMED DATES for MUTEK 2001 are May 30th to June 3rd. This waltz of dates caused many concerns but in the end, this time slot will be beneficial for all. In terms of venues, two evenings will take place at Ex-Centris. We are also finalising a partnership with the Society for Arts and Technology (SAT) which will host a part of the program in its new location on St-Catherine Street, a highly inspiring and unconventional space. Following the February 9th success of MICRO 1, featuring Kit Clayton, Monolake and Deadbeat, the MICRO_MUTEK series will return in April. MICRO 2 will take place over two evenings, April 6th and 7th, in the Fellini theatre at Ex-Centris (3536, St-Laurent blvd.). We will have the honour of welcoming back many of the artists that marked the 2000 edition of MUTEK, to present their most recent works. These two evenings of new media performances, based on sound and visual experimentation will feature: April 6 - MICROSOUNDS Richard Chartier - Washington Taylor Deupree - New York Kim Cascone - San Francisco April 7 - OACIS.optics acoustics calculated in seconds Noto (Carsten Nicolai) - Berlin Komet (Frank Bretschneider) - Berlin Byetone (Olaf Bender) - Berlin A more detailed press release on MICRO 2 will be issued within 10 days. Tickets will be available starting March 26.
