i keep getting this 2 its called the snow white virus fortunately i have a mac so it doesnt hurt ok, but i use eudora & ie5. our network admin says this is a very nasty virus & keeps recycling itself picking up new addresses along the way. i circulate among half a dozen newsgroups under this & stealth alias. due to this i get spam from all over & now trash about 30% of the emails received. Actually, if people weren't such fucking morons when it comes to opening email attachments, *then* this problem wouldn't even occur. Any email I receive with a file attachment (unless it's something I'm expecting from someone) goes straight into the Trash folder without being opened. It constantly amazes me that people continue to click on attachments when the problem of viruses like this is constantly being talked about in the media and elsewhere. I guess their just pre-occupied trying to remember to tape "Friends" next week so they can watch "Survivor II"... Yeah I tried 4 different programs but none of them were as robust as Outlook. Years ago I used to use Netscape Mail and I was really happy with it. I have about 12 different email POP3 addresses now for different clients, different websites, personal correspondences and work. Outlook Express handles this kind of power user very efficiently. The shareware prorams do not. The real solution is simply to disable Contact List and Adress Book functions in Outlook and Outlook Express. Also be sure to disable the "Automatically put people I reply to in my address book" function. Also be sure to install Norton Antivirus or a similar AV prgram. Im just annoyed that I keep getting this virus sent to static@staticbeats.com Im not infected with it or anything and Im certainly not passing it on. I just want to be removed from people's contact lists that's all. shimone ----- Original Message ----- From: ...(Sunsp0t)... <sunspot@subdimension.com> To: Static Beats <static@staticbeats.com> Cc: <idm@hyperreal.org> Sent: Friday, February 02, 2001 12:40 PM Subject: Re: [idm] Second Plea
