Someone mentioned there are Brainfreeze bootlegs out there ... avoid temptation! I read there are legit reissues coming out shortly. You _need_ this record. It's the coolest thing I've heard in years. About fifty times better than Endtroducing, Pre-Emptive Strike, Dark Days, and all of Cut Chemist's material put together. They need to do a few more volumes of this, as far as I'm concerned. Why did Shadow spend time making Psyence Fiction when he could make more of this? BTW, if you want to dig through a _lot_ of really nice old funk, check out funk45.com which has 1,000+ Real Audio clips from old, rare funk 45's. Brainfreeze is kind of a best of of all this old material. Rad. Can anybody with one of the originals post the matrix info from the inner ring of the CD? I picked one up (which is presumably a boot) and it reads in part Allied DT CD-SD1001. By the way, the artwork looks a little fuzzy in that "we lost the original films" sort of way. -rob --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org

The inner ring matrix on mine says "DISC PRODUCERS INC 2886/BRAINFREEZE ADC/CA". Another posting a while back suggests the bootlegs have a 1-color design silkscreened onto the CD (orange on the bare CD surface), whereas the originals have the orange ink printed over a white ink base (this is what mine has). All right, I've sussed the situation with respect to the Brainfreeze boots and will recap Usenet style. The legit versions appear to have DISC PRODUCERS INC 2886/BRAINFREEZE ADC/CA inscribed on the inner matrix of the CD. They also apparently have a red-on-white graphic on the surface of the CD. The boot versions have 093000-2-1 Allied DT CD-SD1001 on the inner matrix and have a red-on-silver graphic (as opposed to just red- you can feel the paint on the entire CD surface but it's basically the same color as the alumnium. From the outside, the cover art is a litle fuzzy (sorta like the Atavistic pressing of the first Crescent CD, which is not a bootleg). Thanks to all that responded. -rob np- Murahachibu _Live 11/23/72_ CD- pretty good but not as good as the CD5/7" --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: idm-unsubscribe@hyperreal.org For additional commands, e-mail: idm-help@hyperreal.org
