Yes, yes. Agreed--though if pressed, I can't say exactly why. Not that it's at all a *bad* release--the requisite "Defocus-ian" melodies and expansive, glittering textures certainly abound--but it does in fact seem a tad, erm..."unfocused" <gack!> at times. Right. I read somewhere (if memory serves) that they're actually upwards of five or six people working together as Aphelion (or am I *completely* off with this one?!?). And, if so, it perhaps explains the lack of interior cohesion and overall compositional aimlessness that keeps it from being the stellar disc I'd anticipated. Certainly has any number of lovely moments, however; perhaps it'll prove to be a "grower". Also, it sounds *much* better on headphones, I've found. CiM's _Reference_, on the other hand, still continues to be quite possibly the best IDM I've heard all year--with the strong Morr comp. coming in a veeery close second.
