Hello Aronne.. You might want to try some releases
on Transmat like Aril Brikha's 'Deeparture' and Indio's
self-titled release if you're after that Detroit flavored
smooth techno.
Not all the stuff on Involve is "ambient", actually. If you
take a listen to Jet Jaguar's self-titled release, it flows
towards the hip-hop side more than anything else, but
it's just as electronically enriched as other Involve material.
I think the two releases you would really be after are Patio's
'Parallel' play which ranks high atop my "Best of 2000" list
for it's sheer simplicity and finesse, as well as Aspen's 'Are
You that Retail Snob?' that taps into ambience, but has a
strong foothold on the more bubbly side of electronica. Nice.
Or, alternatively, just go out and find Aspen's 'Album' on
Elephant Electronic. Contains a good mix of techno, idm,
ambient, even some beaty affairs that won't scare you off.
Involve sounds-clips can be found at

Pietro.
