Hi, since we're on the IDM people who are cool, here's my list: Autechre: friendly but slightly reserved Aphex: Very friendly, bought me and my friend several drinks, gave me rephlex stuff Underground Resistance: Perhaps surprisingly, very talkative and pleasant. James Pennington (Suburban Knight) invited me to come for a holiday in Detroit and sleep on his floor after a 10 minute conversation! (he also said- "we love Glasgow, its very close to Detroit in terms of urban poverty and the peoples attitude") Mika Vanio: a very nice man indeed. Ken Ishii: very bewildered by the amount of praise people were heaping on him, definitely the shy type. -- ________________________________________________________ "My taste runs more to petite little things who sneer a lot and wear make-up stained Prada, and whose idea of an exercise regime is to scrape a blade across a mirror and pour another tequila..." My List: Michael Fakesch: Heard he's nice, never met him. Andy Maddocks: Head good things, heard bad things, never met him Boards of Canada: seen some pictures of them, maybe one day Ill meet them Aphex Twin: We have an agreement - if he ever comes to town, I wont pester him with phone calls or invite all my friends over to his hotel for a huge party, and , in turn, he has no idea who the hell I am :( You dont meet too many idm stars in Dallas - but I did get meet Roedelius on that Indian Summer tour thing, so that was nice! ernie Ernesto Ikerd, (817) 763-4795 Company Graphics, Dept 17, MZ-1156 Lockheed Martin Tactical Aircraft Systems Fort Worth, Texas

I think being nice to people is really nice. As Mammy Yokum says "Good is better than Evil because it's nicer." The whole transaction between Fan and Artist is tilted toward niceness, even if it isn't heartfelt. The Fan pays the bills for the Artist -- no fans, and the Artist is back to being a schlub who loads bakery trucks and gets yelled at by his girlfriend for being a worthless twat. So the Artist has a powerful incentive to make everyone who strikes up a conversation feel, at least for 30 seconds, like the Artist is his or her Friend. Is this whole thread based just a little bit on Brushes with Fame one-up-manship? Well, when I was 14, Dizzy Gillespie dripped spit out of his horn on my shoe. Got ya all in check. And I met Mr. Greenjeans from Captain Kangaroo. He was a really nice guy! kent williams -- kent@avalon.net

Wait a sec, I thought Domu was some other character - I'll have to go find the press on that. It's been out for a few weeks now - well worth checking. There's a new release on Fruitbeard that's not far form the Main Squeeze sort of sound as well - don't remember the name right now, but it's ace.

Speaking of 2000 Black, what's Mustang's release on 2000 Black like? I thought his remix on 4 Hero's 2 pages reinterpretations was fantastic - is it like that? Mustang - Purple Moon - 12" - 2000 Black - rivet2004 Fourth release on Dego's 2000 Black label with some smooth artwork gives two longer jazzy breaks track. Mustang is Alex Attias (also note his Ubiquity-remix below), and he does some great things here. Purple Moon is a not that uptempo drum 'n bass track, comes around with fine higher strings and smooth soft drums. But especially the track Solangs is a fine chill affair, somewhat Photek, 70ties soundtrack like, smooth minimalistic jazz. Recommended thing. ____________________________________ forcefield | mindless entertainment http://www.sonik.demon.nl/forcefield

speaking of dizzy gillespie, i was watching reruns of the cosby show today and he was the guest star. he puffed his cheeks out at rudy's request. he played a nice jaw harp solo. and he conducted vanessa's brilliantly atonal/bitonal band playing gershwin and ellington. ahhh what a show. later, greg davis autumn records www.amug.org/~jkdavis/autumn (was that IDM related??? hmmmmmmm, oh well)

Luke Vibert is always the coolest laid back guy to talk to. he's just plain fucking rad. Mike Paradinas is a cool ass guy. a bit reserved but will answer just about any question you have. he getts real wacky on the net sometimes! Matt Jones. this guy....cool, nice, everything in between......wack as a looney tune. this is the guy voted most likely to be a rock star or a bum in you high school yearbook. hes the guy who mooned the principal on the last day. Graham Massey (808state) is cool too. i didn't really get to say much to him but they are just honestly trying to rock everybody when they preform. RDJ is cool but don't get him around a big group of fans where they have access to him. he'll run. DJ Spooky is nice but i was laughing my ass off when i heard him talk. on stage he does this "i'm a black guy who has funk in his soul" type routine; the getto accent and all. then when he's off stage he turns all into this guy who was raised buy suburban white folk. i don't know....maybe it was because they had him playing the hip hop stage. off to hook it up wit some foaties// ?-???-?
