the Soundboy Yakuza tour is now over,
open arms to everyone who came out and represented,
raised eyebrows to everyone who wrote us saying
"damn! i missed the gig near me, when are you
coming back?" and clenched fists for anybody who
opted to stay home programming their homecomputer
instead of shaking it to the boy sounds of the Yakuza.
right now, lex and kid are snuggled soundly in the
guest bedroom (yes, together) of kidwell manor,
resting up for the flight back to the left coast in a few
hours. somewhere in Europe a tour 7" is being pressed
for underscore. meanwhile, you can enjoy these
two spicy seven inch singles from the _ family.
limited pressing on these, all tracks exclusive.
order thru s://kimo (skimomusic@home.com),
or pick em up at etheria or kim's in NYC.
more stores/distros will be down with the _family soon...
contact ____ (cardhore@juno.com) if you wanna get down.
unsc001 7" cex vs. colongib
:: cex "blearily wonky rock lad"
:: cex vs. colongib "at least one unwilling... (at least i'm
not made of tin mix)"
the a-side is a funky electro track tailor made for
those moments when you've just pulled off a balls-out
piece of badassism, like the music you would put in
your ghetto blaster and booty dance to in a ridiculous
thrift store jogging suit and fake mustache after showing
up uninvited to a lame party held by some guy who used
to make fun of you in school.
the b-side is a cool and bubbly remix by Colongib of the
first track from Cex's cdrlp, "Cells." Where the first
track thrives on beats that lock down a groove, beats
float in and out of this track, twisting and banging
around like a robot boy who doesnt want to take a bath.
unsc003 7" kid606 vs. chris coady
:: kid606 "just another kool kat out looking for a kitty"
:: kid606 vs chris coady "silver egg (silver ovary mix)"
on the a-side, the very same kid606 known for his noisy
rebuke of musical conventions gets up close and personal
with a very melodic and very moving track. the sounds of
a concerned female voice sampled off an answering machine
runs processed over soaring strings, big urgent beats and
a great use of the straight-up piano that puts "On" to shame.
it hits like her handwriting in those last few letters
you keep in your top desk drawer.
on the b-side, newcomer Chris Coady gives kid606's "silver
egg" a big chilly blast of cooled-down electro..
atmospheric synths surge underneath techincally textured
beats. it's sinister, but sinister like hitmen on a summer
day when work is slow and they're just crusing around,
killing time, and maybe they get an italian ice.
