Hey Everyone Big apologies to anyone who tried to see Pole / Neotropic in Boston last night. Both acts were in town and ready to play, however promoter/clubs inability to come to terms on some dumb ass conflicting cigarette sponsership (don't even get me started on how this happens without us knowing) basically meant the show was pulled. After all that, for a moment it seemed like it might happen but then apparently people think that things on a technical rider are there just for the hell of it. Again, our apologies. Jeff

Yeah, now if the information that Pole & Neotropic were playing in the Boston area were advertised ANYWHERE in the first place... I had to search for an hour to figure out that the show was NOT at the Lansdowne Playhouse (initial rumour amongst the local IDM set, they haven't had live music there for about a year now) but at a new EuroDisco on 'Shear Madness Alley' (I kid you not) called 'Venu Boston'. Jesus. Anyways, when I called this place asking if the show was happening (around 9 PM), a woman informed me that Pole WAS playing, around 10:30 (she hadn't heard of Neotropic) and that the dress was 'very formal'. So, like any die-hard BC/CR/Din fan I suited up, grabbed Hekla & headed over there. Now here's the best part: we find the place (right off Tremont in Bay Village) and as we're walking in about NINE black T-shirted bouncers (there was no line outside, in fact there was no one around for blocks really...) informed us that 'the show' was next door, at a club called 'Chaps' (you can see where this is going). We didn't doubt this as there was no sound coming from inside Venu and something resembling Pole was seeping through the walls of said club (I know, I know, EVERYTHING sounds like Pole when yr outside of a club...) so we go in, notice there's only a $3 cover (odd...) and when we tell the attendant that we're on the Matador list, she looks at us, completely perplexed, and tells us A) there's no guest list and B) there's no live performance tonight. We walk next door to Venu again, see someone smoking outside who looks like management and inquire about the show. "It's been cancelled for a few days now". He at least knew what was up, simply heard the word 'Pole' and recommended that we go back next door to Chaps, which we did, and had a really great time to the prodigious disco stylings of DJ Dave Ryan. I think we had more fun there (and had FAR more to drink, which was incidentally cheaper per unit) than at the Pole/Scion/Vainquer show in Williamsburg last summer (concrete walls, dripping water, one lightbulb, Simon Reynolds, total fucking mess and also a complete mystery until 1 hour before the show). Don't get me wrong, I'm still EXTREMELY fucking pissed off at the club and management involved (although I hear the dispute actually centered around Pole/Neotropic becoming seriously alarmed upon the realization that they had been booked (knowingly? "Venu Boston"? come on...) in a Euro Disco, can't blame them) not just for the show falling through, but because despite all of the trouble I went through to figure all of this out there was not one other person loafing around the club during the half hour or so I was down there that even remotely looked like they were there for the same show. I'm just trying to imagine what it would be like if the show HAD happened... -Våt ____________________ Reckankreuzungsklankewerkzeuge PO BOX 382864. Damn I'm glad I decided not to drive out for the show. That would have been 1 hour and 45 totally wasted. Rob Codec! http://www.mindstorm.com/codec LogiQ http://www.mindstorm.com/logiq
