Anyone know if there are any other Rei Mitsui records out? Here's areview I did a bit back: Rei Mitsui - Hoeddohon Sho Ryoko [Ferox] This new Japanese find makes a strong debut on Russ Gabriel's Ferox label, continuing their tradition of strong, innovate releases. "Bug Juice 3.3" kicks off in a roly-poly charge of new wave quirkiness, almost akin to a Max Brennan track - and wait, what's this? Max Brennan himself turns up next, applying his innate organic funk to a remix of "Rekodoten Disuko." The flip offers two versions of "Digital Watch," the first with beautifully sparse drum & bass elements hearkening back to Moving Shadow's glory years - yet this is no d&b track - at 133bpm, it's an innovative example of cross-genre influence. Closing with a more ambient, 120bpm interpretation of the same piece, this EP makes a compelling taster for Mitsui's forthcoming LP.
