the full details would be at the squarepusher site on warp-net. i dont think there are too many out there, not sure of the exact number. i ordered mine from one of the guys who runs the spymania label well over a year ago and i think those might have been the "last ones found in a corner" kind of thing. cl btw- its over 50 minutes on one piece of vinyl. has to be in the top 5 for crappiest sounding records i own.

Damn right....so poor quality but totally totally worth it for "Whooshki" and "Greenwidth", fantastic tracks. -- Ben Coffer http://www.hybridgame.demon.co.uk/

Question= WHY? If Warp reissues and said EP becomes very easily available, then the music is that much easier to get ahold of. Unless spymania is currently unloading the copies at a premium, possible warp reissue is a GOOD thing, right. . .? I understand, if not sympathize with, the collector's urge to get the original, but the point was always the music, wasn't it? Just a thought. M. If there's one thing I can't stand, it's up.

. Yeah that is the point, but if Warp reissue then the original will probably start selling for stupid money like that MASK bullshit, that was the point of my advice. If you want the original, buy it now. Steve

Am I missing something here? Is Warp reissuing MASK? Warp has nothing to do with the MASKs being so expensive. They're expensive because there are only 100-400 of each issue and probably a good 5,000 people who wish to buy them. It's simple supply and demand market economics. The top wealthiest people (or those willing to spend the most) get the MASK releases. It's simple capitalism really. If Warp re-released the MASKs the originals would be worth a lot less. So here's to hoping Warp does! That'd make a LOT of people happy (and a few people really pissed). Hell, even a CD compilation would be wicked cool! -rbc3

warp are not re-issuing mask...the point is...at some point there may be a re-issue of the stereotype e.p. this is purely hypothetical...so there is a possibility that if it was to happen, the originals would be prized more highly than the re-release...in this case, the normal supply / demand characteristics dont apply (giffen goods), the demand curve is inverted (to an extent)..... higher price, higher one-upmanship value... (im not saying this is a good thing...personally i agree that you shouldnt have to pay stupid prices just for a record with #### on it...)...but it happens... rbc3 wrote:

Free markets ain't that simple. Limited availability causes cute stuff like overpriced auctions and grey/black markets (CD-R trading/selling, MP3s) which those producing limited product always seem to bitch or laugh about ("Stop ripping us off! It ain't our fault you can't get one of the 50 copies we released didn't actually make it to any U.S. distributors"). There would be *no* controversy if there was actually a supply to meet the demand. Producers don't have a responsibility to ensure everybody gets a widget but if they complain about external effects 'caused by them not producing enough widgets to meet demand, they are daft. This has been "Capitalism for Dummies." no slag intended :-)

That is not the way it works. The record is rare now, and, because of that, interresting for some to own. In case of a re-release, the original will be priced higher than the re-release, but not higher than what it is today. Give me one reason for a record getting more expensive, when the music on it is more easy to acquire than before. The people who want rare records never enjoy re-releases, because their old gems aren't as unique anymore. That won't increase the prices. The people who want the songs can get them by buying the re-release. That won't increase the price. The re-release of a record can't increase the value of the original. It works the other way. Ant to comment on the MASK example: If they were avaliable for cheap money, instead of being expensive, the prices of the expensive ones would not increase. A simple example of pricing set by demand. Higher avaliability - less potential buyers per copy - lower price. p ---martin wood <martin.wood@advent-comm.co.uk> wrote:
